Overview
Elmer Lore, Sr. was a State Assemblyman from the San Fernando Valley who exchanged letters with Paul Taylor, an employee for the Resettlement Administration, while he was compiling information on migrant camps in the Dust Bowl. Taylor was the husband of famed photographer Dorothea Lange, who had been hired by the Resettlement Administration to document the living conditions of the field workers. Lore’s collection discusses issues of the 1930’s and 1940’s such as unemployment, farm workers, communism and labor movements, public assistance programs, and Democratic Party practices during the Great Depression through a wide variety of documentation and oral histories. The collection consists of photographs, correspondence, and documents.
