The John Spoor Broome Library has four reservable student group study rooms: BRO 1732, 1734, 1753, 1754, 2348, 2350, 2352, 2354, 2356, 2358, 2362, and 2364. The remaining open study spaces and cubicles within Broome Library are available on a first come, first served basis.
Who Can Reserve a Study Room
Only currently enrolled CI students with a valid Dolphin ID number may reserve student study rooms, using the Library’s online reservation system. Student study rooms are reservable for groups of two or more CI students. Individual students are encouraged to use open study spaces and cubicles within Broome Library. Open study spaces and cubicles are not reservable, and are available on a first come, first served basis.
Reservation Specifics
- Student study rooms may be reserved in 30 min. blocks for a maximum of 2 hours per reservation.
- Students may hold up to 2 reservations at a time.
- Multiple room reservations for the same day must occur at least 4 hours apart.
- Room reservations will be forfeited after 15 min. if students do not show up for their reservation
- Students may reserve study rooms up to 2 weeks in advance
Terms of Use
- Student study rooms may not be used as classrooms or faculty offices.
- Student study rooms may not be used for student organization meetings, faculty meetings, or as regular classrooms.
- Users must abide by the maximum occupancy of student study room: BRO 1732: 6 students; BRO 1734: 6 students; BRO 1753: 4 students; BRO 1754: 4 students; BRO 2348: 4 students; BRO 2350: 4 students; BRO 2352: 4 students; BRO: 4 students; BRO 2356: 4 students; BRO 2358: 4 students; BRO 2362: 4 students; BRO 2364: 4 students.
Revocation of Study Rooms
- Broome Library reserves the right to revoke reservations that exceed room capacity
- Broome Library reserves the right to revoke study room reservations will be forfeited after 15 min. if students do not show up for their scheduled reservation
- If reserved study rooms are left unattended, reservations will be forfeited and the room made available for students to reserve.
Room Conditions and Regulations
- Food and drinks are allowed in student group study rooms. Please remove all trash, and notify Library staff of any spills
- Personal belongings left in study rooms may be removed by library staff, but are not the responsibility of the library. (It is never advised to leave your belongings unattended in any location of the library).
- Student study rooms are not soundproof. Please keep the volume of media and discussion at a low to moderate level
- Student group study rooms must be left clean and returned to their original layout for fellow students
- Student study rooms are equipped with tables and seating. No additional furniture or appliances may be brought into the study rooms
- Students may bring the Library’s rolling white boards into study rooms. White board markers may be checked out at the Circulation desk. Students must erase white boards and return them to the Library when finished
- Students must erase dry erase markings from glass surfaces in study rooms when finished
- Writing or marking on walls or furniture is prohibited
- Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. See CI’s University Policy SA.03.003 on alcohol.
- Flames of any kind are prohibited in all library locations, including study rooms.
- Broome Library is a smoke-free facility. Smoking in the study rooms is prohibited. See CSU Executive Order 1108.
- Decorations are not permitted in study rooms
