LIB 211: Discerning Information in an Interconnected World

[Data Literacy]

The course will provide learners with strategies to help them make sense of our information-saturated world in context with data and algorithms. Learners will critically assess information, differentiate perspectives, and view sources of knowledge through the lens of current issues such as surveillance, privacy, information control, and more. Throughout the course, we will hear from guest speakers from a variety of backgrounds including software engineers from Google and Facebook, information science scholars, and others.

This course is cost free and will be mostly asynchronous with the exception of one weekly meeting.
