Introduction

NEW: Tips for preventing plagiarism and tools to detect it.

The best way to combat plagiarism is to stop it before even it begins. As educators, it is our duty to prevent plagiarism from occurring as much as it is our duty to identify when it occurs. The following documents will hopefully help you: broach the topic of plagiarism in your labs and classes; learn how to prevent plagiarism via novel approaches in assignment development; learn how tips on how to detect plagiarism when you suspect that it has occurred in an assignment; as well as how to use the university’s subscription to Turnitin.com, an online plagiarism detection service.

As a university we have an obligation to stop plagiarism before it begins and deal fairly and justly with those accused of plagiarism. Working together, we can achieve that goal of rooting out plagiarism before it occurs.
